page is now posted in five parts: A, B, C, D and E; and its little
brothers are versions 2, 3 etc. They are approximately the same
size, each, and hold about 1/5th of what the original PUNS file

Wide Words by Michael B. Quinion deals mainly with word
origins, has several sections and distributes a free weekly
mailing list. Details are at the entry page above.
Word A Day (AWAD) is a mailing list which delivers a word
and its definition every day to your in-box. It also provides a
robot to whom you can send words, and which returns you the
definition. The FAQ is well organized and very informative.
Lederer's Verbivore. From his entry page - "Welcome to the
web site woven for wordaholics, logolepts, and verbivores.
Carnivores eat meat; herbivores eat plants and vegetables;
verbivores devour words. If you are heels over head (as well as
head over heels) in love with words, tarry here awhile to graze
or, perhaps, feast on the English language."
OneLook Reverse Dictionary is a ton of
fun. You supply the definition or concept, and it returns the
word. You can use filters and wild cards to get words of a
certain length or containing certain letters: great fun for
crossword puzzle fans.
